First international Job & Payed!!! - Primer trabajo internacional y Remunerado!!!

Hey there followers and friends!! Here I am, another day updating you all on my London Lifestyle experience... first of all I want to thank you all for dedicating a few minutes to read my nonsense haha! I see that the count keeps going up THANKS!!!

Now, for today’s story I will write about my experience in my first proper job ever: Representative of Tenerife in our stand in the “World Travel Market”!!!

For those that don’t quite know what it is about... It is this very big international Event that takes place every year in London. It consists of selling tourism events and products that could make a country attractive to be visited or invested in.

Now you will all be wondering what I was doing there. A, because I have not studied tourism and B,what do I know of selling our Islands (The Canary ones, specifically Tenerife, in my case).

Well my dear friends and followers.... you are quite right thinking that way: I literally had no idea so again... it was a massive challenge for my little self. But... I overcame my fears and ended up being quite a good “saleswoman “ for Tenerife , hahaha!!! :P

I was responsible for the whole stand. I had to help any client with any information they asked for and had to make sure every client new who they had a meeting with and where it was. I also made new contacts for the Canaries, possible investors, and I led them to different businessmen and women, depending on the investor’s interests, of our wonderful island.

It was a very interesting experience and very educational. I realized that, actually, I make a pretty good P.R... if I am allowed to say so myself jiji!!!

And also.. in the very personal aspect of this experience, I have made many personal contacts. Contacts that, who knows, I might need to call in the future or they might offer me a job!! FINGERS CROSSED EVERYBODY...PLEASEEEEE!!!

Back to the more professional details, this experience also showed me two very important things: How to do something well done and how to do things  in a hurry and not so greatly.

But those more “tricky ” details I think are more than right to keep for myself. But I will say that in general it ALL worked really well. Things can always be better but as long as you to a job well done it´s enough!

Primer trabajo  a escala internacional y remunerado xD :

Hola queridos seguidores y amigos!! Aquí estoy, otro día más contándoles mis experiencias en mi nueva London Lifestyle...

En primer lugar quiero darles las gracias por dedicarle unos minutos a mis tonterías jeje!  Que por lo que veo las visitas a mi blog siguen subiendo, gracias!!!

Ahora, mi historia de hoy. Quiero contaros sobre mi experiencia en mi primer trabajo de verdad, un trabajo remunerado y sin ser de prácticas :D

Responsable del stand de Tenerife en el "World Travel Market"!!!

Para los no saben de que se trata la WTM, deciros que es un evento internacional que tiene lugar cada año en Londres.

Consiste en una feria internacional para vender productos representativos, o de ocio, de distintos países en todo el mundo. Se trata de vender de manera atractiva el interés en visitar los países o incluso invertir en ellos. Se trata con grandes ejecutivos quizás dispuestos a invertir o con posibles turistas, que como todos sabemos es un sector que mueve mucho dinero.

Todos os  preguntaréis qué estaba haciendo yo allí, A porque no he estudiado Turismo y B qué demonios sé yo sobre vender nuestras islas? (Canarias, en concreto, en mi caso, Tenerife).

Pues bien mis queridos amigos y seguidores... tenéis mucha razón pensando  así, no tenía, literalmente, ni idea... jaja!

La verdad que, por esa razón, ha sido un grandísimo reto. No tenía ni valor ni confianza suficiente en mi misma pare verme capaz pero…

Decidí superar mis temores  e inseguridades y terminé siendo una muy buena "vendedora"! Dejé a mi islita, Tenerife, en muy buen lugar ;) jajaja!!!

Mis funciones en el stand consistían en ayudar e informar a cualquier cliente que se acercase al stand pidiendo información.

Tuve que llevar la agenda de muchos representantes y sus reuniones, para asegurar que sus clientes supieran a dónde y a quién  acudir.

También conseguí nuevos contactos para la isla, empresarios que eran posibles inversores.  Les presenté a quién les tenía que presentar, representantes de distintas empresas tinerfeñas, según área, función y responsabilidad.

Fue una experiencia interesante y muy educativo. Me dí cuenta de que, en realidad, soy un muy buena R.R.PP… :P Si se me permite decirlo a mi misma jiji!!!

Por otro lado,  en el terreno personal,  esta experiencia me dado la posibilidad de hacer muchos contactos personales. Contactos que podrían ser significativos… Quién sabe, quizás son contactos que en un futuro próximo me den trabajo :P Crucen los dedos por favor  jaja!!

Volviendo al terreno profesional, esta experiencia me ha enseñado dos cosas muy importantes: cómo hacer algo bien hecho y cómo hacer las cosas  con prisa y menos bien hechas. Pero esos detalles menos positivos me los guardo. Siempre me enseñaron que "si no tienes nada bonito que decir no lo digas” o si preferís “si las palabras que rompen el silencio no van a ser mejores que el silencio mejor guardárselas”.

Sin embargo SÍ diré que  en términos generales todo fue sobre ruedas. Las cosas, las acciones, las decisiones, siempre puede mejorarse pero si están las realizadas cumplen su función y están mínimamente bien… es suficiente!

Y esta historia, querido lector, es suficiente por hoy!

Family and Spanish teaching! - Familia y profe particular de español!

My Family…

Hi friends and followers, I know I promised you that I would write about my challenging first job, and I will, but first of all I think it is important to write about what my new home 1 is like. (I know, you are wondering why I say home 1one… but let´s not get ahead of ourselves, that is another Post)

I suppose you all agree that, actually, it is quite interesting to know such details due to fact that normally it is a very long and difficult procedure. Its not easy to find a house in a big city straight away. Well a house maybe but not a HOME.

So… to cut a long story short I will say that I managed to find a HOME straight away because I moved into my Aunty Maria´s and Uncle Masum´s house.

Maria is my mom´s sister… so living with her is similar to having mummy around. ;)

In this marvellous home also live my cousins Sophia and Omar and my lovely and unique Grandmother.

I am pretty sure that, just with these few lines, you all can understand why I found a home without any trouble. :D

And know…. What I promised:  My experience teaching Spanish

When my aunty said to me that some friends were interested in me teaching Spanish to their children, I must admit, I was very worried.

I obviously said yes straight away (the times that are running don’t allow me not to grab any opportunity of economical incomings).

But I had no idea of teaching…

To my surprise, when I started teaching I realized that it was not as difficult as I had thought. Ok, I am dealing with young teenagers for anyone it is complicated, but lucky enough I have come across some very respectful ones.

So, it has not been much of a deal.

I don´t want to bore you with further details, but I will say that it has been a very good experience. Not only because it has produced incomings but because it has made me discover a new “talent”, capacity in me: teaching a language that is not easy.

I will defiantly keep teaching private lessons if I can. I also learn with my “pupils” I learn to be responsible with them and give them homework, I have learnt to be very patience and to express myself with Clarence and knowledge.

And that is enough for today…. I still want you all here tomorrow :P

Mi familia...

Hola amigos y seguidores, sé que os prometí que escribiría sobre mi primer día como profesora de español, ese desafiante reto de saber enseñar algo a un adolescente sin perder su interés y atención, y lo hare, pero primero quiero contarles algo que creo que es más importante e interesante: Cómo y cuál es mi Nuevo, mi hogar Nº1. [Sé que os preguntareís por que digo Nº1 pero…. no quiero adelantar acontecimientos ;) Eso será otro post jeje]

En fin a lo que estabamos… Supongo que todos estareís de acuerdo en que en realidad,  escribir primero sobre mi nuevo hogar es muy interesante.

Es un detalle importante, pues normalmente es un procedimiento muy largo y complicado. No es fácil encontrar  de inmediato una casa en una gran ciudad como Londres.

Bueno, tal vez  en ocasiones encontrar la casa no es tan díficil pero SIEMPRE es difícil encontrar un hogar, un sitio lo más parecido a casa posible …

Para no alargarme mucho resumiré. Tuve la suerte de encontrar un hogar inmediatamente porque me mudé a casa de mis tios Maria y Masum. Maria es una de las hermanas de mi madre…  por lo que vivir con ellos es  vivir con familia y eso amigos, por lo general, es algo maravilloso. Nada como la familia!

En casa  también viven mis primos, Sophia y Omar y mi abuela. Y simplemnte con estas últimas frases todos estareís comprendiendo porque siento que estoy en mi hogar. J

Y ahora... Lo que prometí: mi experiencia como profe de español:

Cuando mi tía me dijo que unos amigos suyos estaban interesados en que le diese clases particulares a sus hijos, he de confesar, que no me convencía mucho la idea. Sabía que era una oportunidad para ganar un dinerillo pero no era para nada algo que me interesase. A parte de lo mencionado también he de admitir que otra razón para mi “rechazo inicial” era la inseguridad en mi misma. No me veía capaz de saber enseñar nuestro idioma a un adolescente. A por el miedo a enfrentarme a uno y que me respetase y B porque nunca había enseñado un idioma a nadie y mira que yo he aprendido 4 a lo largo de toda mi vida… siempre he estado rodeada de idiomas que irónico no? Cómo no iba a saber enseñar alguno a otros? Jaja pero era cierto, no tenía ni idea.

Obviamente, a pesar de todo dije que sí enseguida (los tiempos que corren no me permiten no aprovechar  una oportunidad así.)

Para mi sorpresa, cuando empecé a dar las clases me di cuenta de que no era tan difícil. Vale, es cierto que estoy enseñando a unos adolescents muy bien educados y muy respetuosos, claramente eso ayuda. Pero de todos modos insisto, no ha sido tan complicado.

He sido una experiencia muy buena y gratificante. No sólo porque me he ganado un dinerito para mis caprichitos jiji (que por cierto, ya han sido gastados, pero ha sido una buena compra :P ) si no porque me ha hecho descubrirme una capacidad que bien merece la pena tenerla: la capcidad de enseñanza!

¿Qué hay mejor que sentirse útil y sentir que otros se fijan en tí y te respetan por  que tienes algo de lo que ellos carecen y quieren que les ayudes a adquirir?

Asique, compañeros, seguidores y amigos… seguiré dándo clases particulares.

YES I CAN!!! Jeje

Y no solo es una lección lingüistica para mis alumnos si no que es una lección personal y de vida para mi. 

Y con esto…. Creo que es suficiente por hoy!  Aun quiero teneros por aquí mañana :P jeje

And it all started!! - Y todo empezó!!

It all started 2weeks and 4days ago…

Since I finished my degree this last june I knew that I would be coming to London in November to try and get work experience and discover my capacity to overcome a challenging city like London.

At first I was very concerned about leaving HOME but I knew it was something I had to do…. Not only for work experience, but also to get used to moving around and dealing with all the difficulties and challenges that a big city like London may bring.

It was a giant step for a little island girl like me, but I leapt into the challange with dearness, strength and confidence in myself.

And here I am, in this big war against maturity being only a small town island girl. (Ok I experienced 5 years in Barcelona, very big city also, but nothing close to London).

Right from the very first day, when I awoke in my Clapham new home, I realized that the journey had begun.

My first days in London I was lucky to also have my parents with me, this was because all my mothers family lives her so they both took the chance to come for a few days. (It is wonderful to see them without worries, relaxing, and not having to think about time and how many hours extra a day they would need to acomplished all their duties).

As soon as my parents left -after 4days- I really had to get into my new life starting with my first job…  Spanish Teacher!

It was another huge challenge! OK, I am Spanish but it does not mean that Ï know how to teach it…

But this story my dear friends, I will expose in my next Post ;)

Desde que terminé mi carrera el pasado junio, sabía que vendría a Londres en noviembre.

El motivo  era tratar de obtener experiencia laboral y descubrir  si sería capaz de superar una ciudad tan desafiente como Londres.

Al principio estaba muy preocupado por irme una vez más de casa, pero sabía que era algo que tenía que hacer....

No sólo por la experiencia laboral si no también por lo que supone saber moverse y defenderse en una gran ciudad como Londres.

Fue un paso de gigante para una niña de isla como yo, pero con valentía, fuerza y confianza en mí misma di el gran salto.

Y aquí estoy, en esta gran guerra contra  la madurez siendo aún, sólo una niña de una pequeña ciudad en una pequeña, pero hermosa, isla. (Vale, también he vivido 5 años en Barcelona,  una ciudad muy grande y cosmopolita,  también fue un reto enorme pero.... nada comparado con Londres).

Desde el primer día, cuando me desperté en mi nuevo hogar en Clapham, me di cuenta de que había comenzado el viaje. Que ya no había vuelta atrás.

Los primeros días en my nueve estilo de vida Londinense no fueron tan duros porque  tuve la suerte de que  mis padres  habían venido conmigo, esto fue debido a que toda la familia de mi madre vive aquí.

Para ellos era una oportunidad de escaparse unos días de sus ajetreadas vidas. Como unas mini vacaciones, y gracias a dios las disfrutaron. (Como me encanta verlos relajados, sin preocupaciones, sin tener que pensar en como pasa el tiempo y que les faltan horas.... LO ADORO) 

Sin embargo, tan pronto como mis padres partieron de Nuevo, cuatro días después, fue cuando REALMENTE asumí que había entrado de lleno en mi nueva etapa.

Literalmente, un día después de la marcha de mis padres, comenzó mi primer trabajo… profesora particular de español.

Todo un reto, vale soy española ,pero no es lo mismo serlo que saber ser profesara de ello…

Starting Up! - Comenzámos!

Hello Friends and Followers...my name is Luisa.DClarke and I have decided to start a blog on the new and interesting experiences that this new stage of my life will bring up.

Welcome to my  London Style living... ;)

For those who  already know me I suppose you can imagine what this means... It is a very big challange.  

Even though, I will face the challenging London lifestyle with strengh, ambition, faith, serenity and ofcourse with enthusiasm and fun. There will be days were I will  be very down, days were I will miss  you and I will need to see you all more than anything in order to bring back up my enthusiasm. But... I will overcome myselfe and I will get up  every time with courage and new knowledge.

Furthermore.... I PROMISE you that there will also be very funny moments, parties, museums art and many little tales that on there own might seam insignificant but that I am sure will make a difference.

Hope you enjoy my little experiences and tales... XD

Para aquellos que bien me conoceis, sabreis que es  un gran cambio para mí. Sabeís que me costará adaptarme y hacerme a la idea de que quizás pase tiempo hasta que pueda volver a casa...

Aún así me enfrentaré a la desafiante Londres  con fuerza, ambición, fe, serenidad y valentía. 

Habrán días que las noticias que traiga no serán tan divertidas o positivas, pero me superaré y aprenderé a levantarme.

Aunque..... CLARAMENTE no faltará la diversión, la fiesta y las anécdotas que marcan la diferencia.. esas pequeñas cosas que en realidad son, serán.. tan grandes. 

Espero que disfruteís de mis experiencias y anécdotas...  XD
